After a Wordle game, as I was looking at my guesses -- Eagle, Grief, Dodge -- I thought, there's a story here! My first idea was it could be a writer's game to take your guesses and write a 100-word-or-less short story. I shared that with a few writer friends, and when they sent back their guesses for that day, I really wanted to do something with them. But I'm lazy, and thinking up even a 100 word short story seemed like a lot. Then it hit me: Haiku! Thus was born... Wordle Haiku*.
*While I did think of this idea in the social media vacuum in which I live, and it seemed like an invention to me, I have since seen that I was not the first person to dream up Wordle Haiku.
Here are the Haikus I wrote from the guesses of my writer friends:
Guesses: Quiet, Epoch, Drone, Dodge
We dodge the quiet
Of this deafening epoch
With an endless drone.
(Guesses supplied by Sarah LaPolla)
Guesses: Agile, Grope, Lodge, Dodge
Quick, run to the lodge.
Desperate attempt to dodge
The grope, so agile.
(Guesses supplied by Sean Ferrell)
